Account & data deletion

Delete your account and data

This page explains how to request deletion of your Eato account and the personal data associated with it, what gets removed, what we're required to keep, and how long it takes.

1Who this applies to

Eato has two account types that can request deletion: Restaurant Owner accounts and Kitchen Staff (Chef) accounts. Customers placing dine-in orders do not create an account, so there is no customer account to delete — see the note at the bottom of this page for what that means for order data tied to a table session.

2How to request deletion

Email us from the address associated with your account and tell us which account you'd like deleted:

Owner accounts — include the email address you registered with and your restaurant name.

Kitchen/Chef accounts — include your Kitchen ID and the name of the restaurant that created your account. Kitchen accounts are created by a Restaurant Owner, so we may also confirm the request with that Owner before deleting.

Identity check: to protect your data from being deleted by someone else, we may reply asking you to confirm a detail only the account holder would know (such as the phone number on file) before processing the request.

3What happens after you ask

  1. We confirm receipt of your request and verify it's really you, usually within 2 business days.
  2. We process the deletion, which permanently removes your login credentials and profile information from our active database.
  3. You'll receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete — typically within 7 business days of verification.

4What's deleted vs. what we keep

Most account data is deleted outright. A small amount is retained where we have a legitimate operational or legal reason to, as summarized below:

DataOutcome
Name, email, phone number, passwordDeleted
Kitchen ID / staff credentialsDeleted
Restaurant's GPS location & WiFi credentials (Owner accounts)Deleted
Uploaded menu & category photosDeleted from our image host
Past order records tied to your restaurantKept (de-identified)

Past orders are kept in de-identified form — stripped of any direct link to your personal account — for basic financial record-keeping and dispute resolution. They are not used for any purpose after your account is deleted.

Note

5Customer order sessions

Customers don't create accounts, so there's nothing to "delete" in the traditional sense — a table session is a temporary identifier generated at the moment you scan a QR code, not a persistent profile. If you'd like a specific past order disassociated from that session identifier, email [email protected] with the restaurant name, table number, and approximate date/time of the order, and we'll de-identify that record.
